Types of Membership


There are several types of membership available at FBYC:

Active Membership: With this type of membership, you are able to enjoy all the club facilities, and are entitled to dock a boat at FBYC, vote at general meetings and hold an executive position on the board.


Intermediate Membership: This type of membership is for those under 30 years of age who have a trailered boat (under 5,000 lbs.). Intermediate Members have use of all the club facilities, but are not allowed to hold an executive position or vote at the general meetings. All Intermediate Members must become Active Members at age 30.


Dinghy Membership: This membership caters to the sailor who may wish to store a dinghy (small open sail boat stored on land) at the club. These members have use of all club facilities but do not vote at general meetings or hold executive positions.


Social Membership provides full use of all club facilities, but these members do not vote at general meetings or hold executive positions.
**Please note that currently our Social Membership is full. Applicants may be placed on a waiting list.


Crew Associate Membership is for the sailor who wishes to serve as crew for a racing or cruising boat. This type of membership is for those who have one year of crewing experience. They do not hold an executive position or vote at the general meetings. Should a Crew Member decide to move to Active Member status, annual fees can be applied towards the initiation fee.
**Please note that currently our Crew Membership is full. Applicants may be placed on a waiting list.


*Notes about becoming a member: Application for membership at FBYC must be sponsored by a voting member of FBYC or by the Membership Committee. If you'd like to become a member, but don't know a current club member, please contact the membership committee to arrange sponsorship

*Members who join after the end of June will have their membership dues prorated.

Debentures are interest free loans made to FBYC, which are subject to application for refund upon leaving the club.

All dues and fees are subject to HST, but debentures are tax free.
