NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be
governed by the rules as defined in;
ISAF Racing
Rules of Sailing.
Prescriptions of the Canadian Yachting
Association
Individual Class Associations
FBYC sailing instructions.
2 ADVERTISING
Advertising will be restricted to Category A.
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to
all boats of the flying sails and non-flying sails class(es) that are members
of FBYC or other affiliated yacht clubs.
3.2 Eligible boats may enter by
completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee,
and proof of valid insurance to Rear Commodore of Sail before the start of the
first race of the regatta to be eligible to be scored in all races.
4 CLASSIFICATION
The
ISAF Sailor Classification Code will apply.
5 FEES
5.1 The
fee to register for the regatta shall be $40.
6 SCHEDULE
6.1 Registration shall be on
Friday August 6 from 1800hrs to 2100hrs and Saturday August 7 from 800hrs to
900hrs.
6.2 Races shall be held on both
Saturday August 8and Sunday August 9. Five races will be
attempted for the PHRF fleets and the Viking 28’s, as many as possible for the Kirby 25’s.
6.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race of Saturday
August 7th shall be 1030 hrs. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the
first race of Sunday August 8th shall be 1000 hrs
6.4 No race shall start
after 1530 hrs on Saturday August 7th, No race shall start after
1230 hrs on Sunday August 8th.
7 MEASUREMENTS
Each boat shall produce a
valid PHRF - LO certificate, or be registered with their class association for
the Kirby 25’s and Viking 28’s. Please see the Club Handicappers if one is
required.
8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available upon registration from the
Rear Commodore of Fleet, or the
registration table.
9 THE COURSES
The courses to be sailed will be posted on the
committee boat as described in the Racing Instructions.
10 PENALTY SYSTEM
The
penalties are as per the RRS and the Race Instructions except as stated below.
If a boat believes
they may have committed a penalty and has not been involved in a collision,
they may absolve themselves by the following actions;
After getting well
clear of other boats as soon after the incident as possible, a boat takes a one
turn penalty by promptly making one turn in the same direction including one
tack and one gybe.
This alters RRS 44.2
12 SCORING
12.1 The number of races required
to be completed to constitute a series are 1.
12.2 The number of drop races shall be described in the Racing Instructions.
13 RADIO COMMUNICATION
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while
racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This
restriction also applies to mobile telephones. Fleur de Lis will monitor CDN
Channel 78, a second committee boat for the Kirby fleet will monitor CDN
Channel 09.
19 PRIZES
Prizes
will be given on Sunday August 8, 2009 after the final races are complete and
the scores are tabulated.
20 DISCLAIMER OF
LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at
their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not
accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained
in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
21 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party
liability insurance, and provide a copy of that information to FBYC.
