At Frenchman's Bay Yacht Club, we offer a range of membership options to suit your individual situation. Whether you are searching for an active membership, a dry sail, crew or social, we have a membership options that are right for you. Our members enjoy access to our facilities, including our dock, clubhouse, and grounds. In addition, we offer a variety of social events and club racing throughout the year. Membership Types
Membership Category Descriptions
Active Membership
You are able to enjoy all the club facilities, and are entitled to dock a boat at FBYC, vote at general meetings and hold an executive position on the board. One-time costs include debentures and initiation. Annual costs include membership, slip and dinghy fees. As an example a new member joining in April with a 30' boat without a dinghy should expect to pay about $6,000 your first year (payment plans available) and $2,100 annually thereafter in membership and slip fees and including HST. If you are under 30 years of age, we have an intermediate membership that helps younger members defer some of the one-time costs.

Debentures $1,500 (No tax)
FBYC is owned by its members. Your debenture represents your ownership in the club. Your debenture fees are returned when you leave the club and effectively sold to a new member.
Initiation Fee $2,300+ HST
One time fee paid by new members.
Slip Fees $2.55/ sq ft + HST (minimum of $570)
Slips fees are charged by the square footage occupied by your boat (LOA X Beam).
Membership Fees (Active Member) $1,150 + HST
This is an annual fee paid be active members used to fund the operations of the club.

Dinghy Fee $120+HST
This optional fee applies to members who keep a dinghy at the club.
Dry Sail Membership
$340 +HST
This membership caters to those who may wish to store a dinghy (small open sailboat stored on land) canoe, kayak or SUP at the club. These members have use of all club facilities but do not vote at general meetings or hold executive positions.
(vessel/dinghy storage cost apply $120/craft)
Crew Associate Membership
$185 +HST
This is for the sailor who wishes to serve as crew for a racing or cruising boat. This type of membership is for those who have one year of crewing experience. They do not hold an executive position or vote at the general meetings. Should a Crew Member decide to move to Active Member status, annual fees can be applied towards the initiation fee.
Social Membership
$440 +HST
This membership is for non-boating members. Social members have full use of the club facilities (BBQ, bar, parties, events) but do not keep a boat on the property.
All membership rates are subject to change without notice. All membership categories will be offered to a perspective member through a formal quote.
Membership Privileges and Responsibilities
The below outlines the duties and responsibilities of active members

Work Hours
Work hours are an example of a members' responsibility. Senior Active members and Dinghy members are required to complete a minimum of 15 work hours each calendar year.
Remember, each work hour spent helps make the club a better place for all. Work hours can be contributed in whatever way suits your interests and skills. Some examples include gardening, painting the clubhouse, working on the website, or mowing the lawn. Members are also credited work hours for attending general meetings and helping set the direction for the club. Work hours must be reported to the relevant Committee Chairperson to be counted towards a member's tally. Unpaid work hours will be billed to applicable members at a cost of $45/hour.

Duty Officer Shifts
Duty Officer shifts – referred to as “DO" shifts – are another opportunity to help define what this club is. DO shifts are three (3) hours long, taking place on weekday evenings, and Saturdays and Sundays are split into two (2) shifts each. Each year, all Senior Active and Dinghy members are assigned two DO shifts to complete.
DO shifts are both a Privilege and a Responsibility. A DO shift is an opportunity to be a presence and set a positive tone for the club; welcoming visiting boaters to the dock, checking dock lines to make sure everyone’s boat is safe and secure, and ensuring the club isn't left unattended. DOs are also responsible for tasks such as watering the flower beds and taking garbage to the bin.

All members have the Privilege and Responsibility to grow the sport of sailing, boating and water sports. As members of the FBYC we have the opportunity to introduce our friends, co-workers and neighbours to life on the water. We host one of the best youth sailing programs in the province. It is part of our responsibility to the sport to ensure all visiting boaters, students, and guests of the club have the best possible experience.
