FBYC is not only for kids but for everyone! FBYC’s “Adult Programs” are not just for seasoned sailors — they cater to beginners, couples, families, and even individuals interested in paddleboarding or trying sailing for the first time.
Start Keelboat Sailing
$500
Introduction to keelboat sailing: basic instruction on crewing, boat roles, sailing theory, safety, basic maintenance and familiarization with keelboats (no prior experience required), on a 24’ Shark Keelboat. Offers either a 6-night weekday program or a full-weekend intensive format.

"Let's Try Sailing"
$129/sailor, minimum 2/boat
A 3-hour introductory sailing session, ideal for first-time sailors. Takes place aboard a Shark 24 keelboat; provides basic sailing exposure (terminology, boat handling). Good for individuals, couples, or families curious about sailing without long-term commitment. Lifejackets required.

Let’s Try Sailing Keelboats: 3-hour session, $129 per sailor (special rates for couples/families)

Date Night Dinghy
$ 500/boat
A 2-week course for 2 participants (e.g., couples) sailing RS Quest dinghies. Focus on maximizing on-water time, while learning CANSail 1 content — boat prep, sailing basics, maneuvers, capsizing, etc. Emphasizes fun and shared experience.

Basic Learn to Cruise
$999
To be able to cruise safely in familiar waters as both skipper and crew of a 24’ Shark Keelboat. The focus of this standard is on the development of basic sailing and seamanship skill as well as the knowledge needed to make the decisions expects of a skipper. The course is offered in a variety of formats. Offers either a 8-night weekday program or two full-weekend intensive formats

Family Sailing
$600/boat
A 4-week evening course (e.g., one night per week) designed for families or friend-groups (up to 4 people per boat). Uses RS Quest dinghies. Curriculum follows CANSail 1 standard for new students; returning students may enroll at CANSail 2 standard. Covers boat parts, rigging, points of sail, sailing maneuvers, capsizing, and more

Family Sailing: 2 nights weekly Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30–8:30 pm, $600 per boat (up to 4 people)

Pickering Paddleboarding (SUP)
$99/person
For those who prefer a lighter, more relaxed water activity. Four 1.5-hour sessions over 4 weeks; offered Wednesday evenings (6:00–7:30 pm). Kayaks and Paddleboards and paddles provided; suitable for ages 12+, with youth 12–16 required to be accompanied by an adult. Lifejackets required.

When you register for eligible courses, you receive a complimentary social membership at FBYC until end of the calendar year.
